Everything was working for Orlando Costa today at Hemmingway Memorial Stadium. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The splitter was working.

In an unforgettable performance, the 24-year-old Costa fanned 16 Barracudas and sparked the Montgomery Biscuits to a 5-1 victory over Key West. He left Barracudas hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it.

"I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Montgomery manager Ramón Castillo. "His location and command were really something."

In addition to collecting 16 strikeouts over 9 innings, Costa allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in a superlative outing.

"I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Costa said with a smile.

This season-to-date Costa has 3 wins and 1 loss and a 3.32 ERA.
