| Victory Pushes Bruins Record to 84-58 | The So Cal Bruins defeated the New York Knights, 4-2, in National League action at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark, with So Cal right fielder Phil Smith named player of the game. Juan González got the win, improving to 9-12. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. César Menéndez notched his 12th save in 14 chances.
The Bruins got a big at-bat from catcher Chris Woods. For the game, Woods went 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 27th hit of the season gave So Cal a 3-1 lead.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Woods.
The Bruins bumped their record to 84-58 with this latest triumph.
