| Stars Stay Hot, Beat Cards | Springfield withstood an impressive performance by Portland catcher Bonifacio Torres to defeat the Cards, 9-4, at Kekambas Park. Torres was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Anthony Erickson got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 12 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Springfield is now 100-41, 19 games up in the Continental League Central Division.
The Stars got a big at-bat from right fielder Derek Davidson. For the game, Davidson went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 42nd double of the season gave Springfield a 4-2 lead.
