River Sharks Clip Stars in Tight Contest

Austin beat Springfield at Greendale Community Field, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to center fielder Enrico Vargas, who earned player of the game honors. Paco Gutiérrez converted his 26th save in 30 tries. Austin has now won 3 in a row.

Pedro Guzmán drove in one run for Austin. The 29-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jorge Aybar. It was his 54th RBI of the season.

Guzmán attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
