Tropics Continue Skid Thanks to Cruz, River Sharks

Behind a solid performance from first baseman Tony Cruz, the Austin River Sharks defeated the Maui Tropics, 10-6. Cruz went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the River Sharks. Austin reliever Carlos Hernández picked up the win, upping his record to 4-9. Jerry Martin absorbed the loss. The current losing streak for Maui has reached 4 games.

Júlio Figueroa had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for the River Sharks. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Austin trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run single.
