| River Sharks Solve Browns, 5-2 | The St. Louis Browns got a superb performance from pitcher Luis Noriega, but the Austin River Sharks still won the game, 5-2. Noriega was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. José Pérez got the win, improving to 5-8. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Paco Gutiérrez got the save, his 25th in 28 chances.
In the top of the 6th, designated hitter Pedro Guzmán gave Austin the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The River Sharks had been trailing 2-0, but the two-out home run off St. Louis pitcher Martín Ortíz changed that -- and Austin went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Guzmán after the game.
The last-place River Sharks now have a win-loss record of 46-83.
