| Hidalgo Magnificent in Vista Win | The Boston Rebels had no answer today for Vista Panthers pitcher José Hidalgo. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 7-0. Boston managed only 3 hits off Hidalgo, who had 6 strikeouts.
The extraordinarily popular Hidalgo got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.
"Panthers fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."
This year Hidalgo has recorded a 7-9 mark. In 24 starts he has fanned 70 batters in 146 innings with a 3.33 ERA. |
