| Royale with Cheese Score Late, Top Pikes, 5-4 | The Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese dealt the Seattle Pikes a 5-4 loss at Pikes' Point Stadium. Bob Martin was the star on offense. He went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Jason Taylor picked up the win, improving his season record to 6-10. He struck out 9 in 7 innings. Roberto Ledesma was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 5 save opportunities.
Martin had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-0 circle change from José Jiménez, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Royale with Cheese a 5-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Martin.
"I was a little disappointed," said Seattle manager Kevin Hickey. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The Royale with Cheese bumped their record to 54-46 with this latest triumph.
