| Sandoval, Royale with Cheese Wallop Stars in Game 5 of R2 | The Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Springfield Stars, winning 9-1 at Hawthrone Grill today. Royale with Cheese third baseman Roberto Sandoval was named player of the game after he hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. The win cuts the deficit facing the Royale with Cheese to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
With two out in the bottom of the eighth, Caden Keith barreled up a fastball from Todd Brewster. The result was a grand slam home run, putting the Royale with Cheese in front, 9-1.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Kalamazoo manager Domingos Jacobsen.
The next game is set to be played Tuesday. The scheduled starters for the game are Salvador Castro for the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese and José López for the the Springfield Stars.
