| Almost There: Springfield On Cusp of R2 Triumph After 9-7 Win | Riding the 2-hit performance of right fielder Derek Davidson, the Springfield Stars got a road win against the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese, 9-7, in Game 4 of the Divisional Round today. Davidson was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Stars, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.
This game was not decided until late. With one out in the top of the ninth, António De La Cruz drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Stars took the lead, 8-7.
"It was a solid team effort," said De La Cruz after the game.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Hawthrone Grill in Kalamazoo. Slated to start are José López for the Springfield Stars and Octávio Ramírez for the the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese.
