| Royale with Cheese Rally to Eke Out Win | Kalamazoo got a first-rate effort from pitcher Jason Simpson, who frustrated Houston hitters en route to a 2-1 Royale with Cheese triumph at Hawthrone Grill. Kalamazoo reliever Carlos Thomas picked up the win, upping his record to 4-3. Vinícius Itaquy was saddled with the loss. The Royale with Cheese bumped their record to 91-68 with this latest triumph.
The Royale with Cheese got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jimmy Simon. For the game, Simon was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 100th hit of the season gave Kalamazoo a 2-1 lead.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," Simon said.
