Rodríguez Sizzles -- Smokes As for 5 Hits Monday, May 1st, 2028 Pirates first baseman Pancho Rodríguez had his way with Tulsa HS pitching today at As Ballpark and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the As ruined his great day by toppling the Pirates, 29-9. "I had a great day, but you've got to give Tulsa HS credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits." "Oh, we noticed what Rodríguez did today," As skipper Sergio Sánchez said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him." Pancho Rodríguez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and singled in the 8th. This season Rodríguez has banged out 43 hits in 127 at-bats for a .339 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .399 pace and his totals also include 15 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
