Colón Cracks 5 Hits

District 9 first baseman José Colón could do no wrong in today's 7-1 win over the Broncos as he collected 5 hits.

"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Broncos skipper Ryan Green said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."

Colón agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.

"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."

José Colón singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Denny Green in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Juan Garza in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

Colón is hitting .310 for the season with 18 home runs, 80 RBIs and 111 runs scored. He has 180 hits in 580 at-bats and played in 149 games.
