Kings Come Up Short at Irvine
|
Irvine starter Millard Curtis had a strong outing against the Kansas City Kings at The Ballpark at Irvine. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Curtis went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 5-2. Mike Fisher was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 20 save opportunities.
Aaron Wilson took Marty Bradford deep with two out in the bottom of the fifth. On a first pitch fastball, Wilson drilled a solo home run to left. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put Irvine on top, 2-1.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Kansas City skipper Ernesto Durán.
The first-place Gang Green improved to 44-21.
