Looters Lose Despite O'Loan's Valiant Effort
|
New Orleans shortstop Dave O'Loan pounded Plymouth Rocks pitchers at The Bayou at Heineken Field, but it was not enough to keep the Looters from falling, 8-3. O'Loan slugged 2 home runs. The winner was José López, who threw 108 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Plymouth improves to 46-17 with the win. They lead their division by 7½ games.
Trailing 2-1, Plymouth hopes soared in the top of the fourth inning when the 30-year old left fielder Wilbert Rodgers lifted a 1-0 splitter into the stands for a 2-run home run. The round-tripper put the Rocks up, 3-2.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rodgers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
