After a 5-hit effort to lead Buchanan HS's 10-3 victory over the Grand Rapids HS Summit, left fielder Franklin Jackson told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is pretty nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the High School Stars League-level is really something special."
The 16-year-old player earned his accolades today at Ballpark of Grand Rapids HS with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Summit.
"His swing is getting there," said Buchanan HS skipper Lou Nisbet, who spoke glowingly of Jackson after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Franklin did that to perfection today."
Franklin Jackson grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
Currently Jackson is batting .418 with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
