River Sharks Fall to Howard, Sheens
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements at Crown Royal Stadium enjoyed themselves.
St Charles first baseman Larry Howard had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the Austin River Sharks, 9-5. Paul Adams picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-9. He struck out 5 in 7 innings. Getting the save was Álex Villegas, his 3rd.
Making an impact for St Charles was second baseman Alfredo Hernández. He drilled a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Hernández went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Hernández told the St Charles Chronicle.
St Charles is last in the Continental League Western Division with a record of 16-38.
