Tommy Payne added some punch to the Beech Mountain offense, helping them outmuscle the New Orleans Looters, 9-7. In the game, Payne, who was drafted in the two round of the 2024 draft, was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Beech Mountain reliever Bret McJannett picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Tadao Yoshida shouldered the loss. With the win over New Orleans, the Mountaineers improved to 25-25.

The Mountaineers got a big boost from catcher John Anderson who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the seventh inning off Looters hurler Tadao Yoshida. It was his 15th walk of the season and put Beech Mountain on top, 6-5.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Payne.
