Kalamazoo beat Houston at Hawthrone Grill, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Jason Taylor, who earned player of the game honors. Kalamazoo has a 3-game win streak, while Houston has lost 4 in a row.
Kalamazoo designated hitter Donovan Bird changed the complexion of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when he belted a 3-run home run off Daniel Grant. His 13th home run of the season put Kalamazoo in front, 4-3.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Bird.
