Looters Go Down to Defeat, 5-3
|
So Cal right-hander Alejandro Méndez pitched his team to victory over the New Orleans Looters at Jersey West at Staples Field. The final score was 5-3. Marty Burgess closed the door for So Cal, picking up his 6th save of the year. The Bruins move to 21-23 with the win, while the Looters drop to 24-19.
Phil Smith contributed to the So Cal win. The 29-year old right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Smith was 2-3 with 2 singles.
In comments to the So Cal Today, Méndez admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
