Mario Olivares was the difference-maker for the Maui Tropics in what turned into a shootout with the Niagara Falls Frenzy. Olivares earned the player of the game award after going 4-for-4 in the 10-9 Tropics win. Maui reliever Mark Stewart picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ricardo Pérez absorbed the loss. Kent Robinson closed the game out for Maui, earning his 3rd save.

It could have been a different outcome for Maui, had it not been for Mike Pearson, the 24-year old second baseman . Pearson contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the eighth inning to put Maui up, 10-9.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Olivares told the Maui Citizen. "It's as simple as that."

With the win, Maui goes to 3-2.
