Maui second baseman Mike Pearson had a good game, even if his team did not. The Tropics dropped a 11-7 decision to New York at Rainbow Stadium. Pearson went 4-4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times. New York reliever Steve Poe picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. César Rúbio took the loss. With the victory, the Knights record now stands at 13-21.

Lonnie Anderson, who is tied for 5th in the NL in stolen bases with 8, aided the New York cause with a 2-run double in the top of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman went 3 for 5 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Anderson.
