The Baffin Island Beavers overcame a good performance by Maui left fielder Luis Alou to knock off Maui, 6-5, at Rainbow Stadium. Alou was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Tropics fall to 8-13 and continue their uneven start to the 2028 season.

The most important at-bat for Baffin Island came in the top of the ninth inning, when second baseman António Valdéz stroked a 2-2 slider to left for a run-scoring single, putting Baffin Island up, 6-5.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Valdéz told the Baffin Island Observer. "It's as simple as that."
