Knights Suffer 4-3 Setback
|
The New Orleans Looters defeated the New York Knights, 4-3, in National League action at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark. Run-ming Zhu received player of the game honors. The 14-year veteran hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Gennarino Lucchetti earned the win for New Orleans. He lasted 8 innings, allowing no earned runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 16-9. Juan Méndez got the save, his 35th in 41 chances.
Zhu had a clutch at-bat in the top of the fifth for the Looters. Coming up with a runner on 1st and New Orleans trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said New York skipper Joe MacVean.
New Orleans's record now stands at 81-68, placing them second in the National League Southern Division.
