Late Rally by Beavers Seals 4th Straight Win
|
The Baffin Island Beavers defeated the El Dorado Oilers, 7-3, at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace today. Leading the charge for Baffin Island was center fielder Tony Morton. He went 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. The win was credited to Colm Stewart in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Rick Grant took the loss. The second-place Beavers now have a 4-game winning streak.
Had it not been for Lorenzo Villa, the results might have been different. In the top of the eighth inning, when the Beavers were trailing 3-2, Villa hit a 2-run double for Baffin Island, giving his team the lead.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Baffin Island manager Chris Black.
