Late Rally Gets Win for Mountaineers
Despite a great performance by St. Louis first baseman David Johnstone, the Beech Mountain Mountaineers defeated the Browns by the score of 7-5 at Park Top. Johnstone was 3-5 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was Matthew Scott in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Darren Blackwell took the loss. The Mountaineers improve their record to 58-82 with the win over St. Louis.

Robert Phillips said the idea of hitting a home run barely crossed his mind when he came to bat in the bottom of the 13th. Phillips belted a 2-run home run to stake Beech Mountain to a 7-5 lead. His 10th home run of the season came off St. Louis pitcher Darren Blackwell.

"This place sure got loud," said Doug Raymond, the Beech Mountain manager.
