Austin Loses, 7-5, Despite Nelson Performance
New York and Austin duked it out at Greendale Community Field and the Knights came out victorious.

The Austin River Sharks got a superb performance from left fielder Greg Nelson, but the New York Knights still won the game, 7-5. Nelson was named the player of the game despite the loss. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. New York starter Thatcher Smith was credited with the win after throwing 88 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 5-10.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the fourth, with the game tied, Warren Potter was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Knights to go in front, 5-4.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Potter said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."

New York is third in the National League Eastern Division with a record of 47-73.
