Mountaineers Come Back Late to Clip Knights
|
The Beech Mountain Mountaineers racked up a win at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark, bumping off the New York Knights, 5-1. Yong-hoon Park, who started for Beech Mountain, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was Park, now 7-7. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. The Mountaineers now have a record of 50-67.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the top of the eighth inning. Facing New York hurler Sancho Mendoza, Robert Phillips, who is tied for 9th in the NL in doubles with 30, hit a single. The Mountaineers went on to win.
"I had pretty much everything working," said Park.
