Frenzy Prevail, 8-6, Over New York
|
With second baseman Kel Pierce leading the charge, the Niagara Falls Frenzy defeated the New York Knights, 8-6, at Roy Hobbs Memorial Ballpark. Pierce, who is tied for 7th in the NL in stolen bases with 20, went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Ed Jones got the win, improving to 8-9. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. With the win, Niagara Falls goes to 38-74, while the Knights fall to 42-70.
The Frenzy got a big at-bat from first baseman Yasuhiko Onodera. For the game, Onodera was 1-4 with a walk. In the top of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 94th hit of the season gave Niagara Falls a 3-2 lead.
Pierce told a Niagara Falls Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
