Stars Win Again, Extend Series Lead to 2-0
Despite a great performance by Kansas City catcher António De La Cruz, the Springfield Stars defeated the Kings by the score of 7-5 at Kekambas Park today. De La Cruz was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Stars from moving one game closer to the League Championship. Springfield now leads the Divisional Round 2-0.

The Stars beat the Kings in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Jesús Tobías produced in the bottom of the fifth. Batting against Kansas City pitcher Francisco Morales, Tobías gave his team a 6-4 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We'll savor this win," Tobías told the Springfield Times, "then get ready for the next game."

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday, October 14th, 2028 at The Throne Room. Slated to start are Anthony Erickson for the Stars and Carlos Pacheco for the Kings.
