López, Springfield Open Divisional Round Strong with 9-1 Win
|
The Springfield Stars started the Divisional Round in style today, downing the visiting Kansas City Kings at Kekambas Park by a score of 9-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Stars left-hander José López was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball.
Shane Hutchinson had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Stars. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Springfield trailing 1-0, he hit a 3-run home run.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," López said after the game.
Game 2 is set to be played on Thursday, October 12th, 2028 at Kekambas Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Mark Head for the Kings and José López for the Stars.
