Home Loss Shrinks Bruins' Series Lead to 3-2
|
The Irvine Gang Green have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading So Cal Bruins, winning 8-7 at Jersey West at Staples Field today. Gang Green third baseman José Salazar was named player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Gang Green to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
The critical at-bat for Irvine came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out, Salazar hit a sacrifice fly, putting Irvine up, 8-7.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Irvine manager Patrick Carrier told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Divisional Round, it's only going to get harder."
The next game is set to be played on Wednesday, October 18th, 2028 at The Ballpark at Irvine. The scheduled starters for the game are Alejandro Méndez for So Cal and Masutaro Koyama for Irvine.
