Almost There: So Cal On Cusp of Divisional Round Triumph After 9-2 Win
|
The So Cal Bruins moved to within one game of the League Championship today, downing the visiting Irvine Gang Green at Jersey West at Staples Field by a score of 9-2. Bruins left-hander Ramiro Jiménez was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Bruins a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
The Bruins beat the Gang Green in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Jeff Carter produced in the bottom of the fourth. Batting against Irvine pitcher Dae-ho Kim, Carter gave his team a 3-2 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
"I like our moxie," said Bruins manager Jorge Rivera.
Game 5 is set to be played on Monday, October 16th, 2028 at Jersey West at Staples Field. Slated to start are Dae-ho Kim for the Gang Green and Ramiro Jiménez for the Bruins.
