Lugo belts 2 home runs in Kings Win
|
The Kansas City Kings beat the Kalamazoo Royale with Cheese, 9-6, at Hawthrone Grill. The Kings got a fine performance from center fielder Oliver Lugo, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Kansas City reliever Nariaki Tanaka was the winner. His record is now 5-1. The losing pitcher was Jason Taylor. The Kings' win now puts them at 50-37.
The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Kansas City first baseman Douglas Taylor. In the top of the eighth inning, with one out and the bases loaded, Taylor hit a 2-run single to help Kansas City seize the win.
"The most important thing is that we won," Taylor said.
