Looters Fall Short, 7-6, at Beech Mountain
|
The Beech Mountain Mountaineers and New Orleans Looters obliged those fans who came to Park Top hoping for an exciting game.
Beech Mountain right fielder Tommy Payne had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the New Orleans Looters, 7-6. Simon Martel was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
Payne contributed when he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth. Coming with one out and the bases loaded, the home run proved to be critical to helping Beech Mountain get the win.
"We found a way to get it done," Payne said.
With the win, Beech Mountain goes to 69-93, while the Looters fall to 88-74.
