Trojans Reliever Cortéz Hurt Sunday, May 24th, 2026 It took the Southern California team doctor a while to realize it, but reliever Jorge Cortéz won't simply play through a damaged elbow ligament after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Bears-Trojans game. At first, it looked like Cortéz might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 17 months. Cortéz has nailed down 2 saves for the year. He has also totaled 19 strikeouts and 14 walks in 20.2 innings while registering a 5.66 ERA and a 0-0 won-lost record. |
