Owens Excels, Niagara Falls Blows Out Chicago
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Niagara Falls Frenzy and Chicago Machine came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Niagara Falls Frenzy put together a convincing win at Edmund Fitzgerald Field, defeating the Chicago Machine, 13-2. Dante Owens was one of the hitting stars. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Niagara Falls. Luis López got the win, improving to 6-6. He held the Machine to 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2.
Also pitching in for Niagara Falls was center fielder Martín De Jesús, who hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, De Jesús was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3.
"They took us to the woodshed," said Chicago manager Chip Justice.
Niagara Falls's record now stands at 56-66, placing them third in the National League Eastern Division.
