Mullins Blasts Boccabellas, Deplorables Take Game 1, 9-1
With first baseman Paul Mullins leading the charge, the Fresno Deplorables got a road win over the Pocatello Boccabellas, 9-1, in Game 1 of the Wildcard Round today. Mullins went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice at Connie Mack Stadium to help Fresno take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

An important at-bat for Fresno came with no one out in the top of the ninth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Mullins hit a 3-run home run, which contributed to the Deplorables win.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Mullins said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

Game 2 is set to be played on Saturday, October 9th, 2027 at The Kallipolis. Slated to start are Kevin Bush for the Boccabellas and Won-min Im for the Deplorables.
