MacGruder Slams 5 Hits for Tacoma HS Saturday, April 25th, 2026 Dave MacGruder really did a number on the Paints in the Tacoma HS 18-15 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Dave MacGruder did just that today for the Torchmen and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win. "I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 17-year-old shortstop said after his record-setting performance. Dave MacGruder hit a three-run home run off Lonnie Phillips in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off William Jackson in the 9th. MacGruder is hitting .286 this year with 5 home runs and 18 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .415, 13 walks and scored 20 times. |
