Hits Galore: Johnson Drills 5 Hits
Tuesday, May 12th, 2026
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book. The latest honoree is Ron Johnson of the Pittsburgh Panthers. Today he beat up their pitching to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was the Florida Gators that salvaged a 11-1 victory at McKethan Stadium. "Johnson was a tough out today," the Florida manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure. I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win." Speaking to the BNN writers, Johnson added, "It was a real good day for me individually, but not a good one for the team. No loss is a good one." Ron Johnson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.

Johnson has collected 14 hits for the Panthers this year, 1 of them home runs. He has also netted 5 RBIs and scored 7 runs while batting .286.
