Padilla Belts 5 Hits Tuesday, August 18th, 2026 It wasn't poetic justice. Ramón Padilla of the Benders had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Erie Jaxx, but his team didn't win the game. In the clubhouse after the 6-5 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too." And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. The manager for the Benders sympathized with his shortstop and told BNN reporters after the game, "Ramón played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win... baseball is a team sport... it takes more than just one player to win a game." Ramón Padilla singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, tripled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. So far this season Padilla has 1 home run and a .272 batting average. |
