Great Year Gets Peña SNL Outstanding Hitter Award Thursday, October 22nd, 2026 He may have less experience than some veteran members of the Southern League, but that didn't slow Javier Peña down at alll in 2026. At the age of 26, the Wichita right fielder has been named the winner of the Southern League Outstanding Hitter Award. He had a .284 batting average and a .399 on-base percentage this year. In 151 games he piled up 154 hits, 30 doubles, 4 triples, 36 home runs, 104 RBIs and 117 runs scored. "I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year." Alfredo Sánchez of the Wichita Wranglers finished second in voting, while Millard Dye of the Salem Silver Souls finished third. |
