Red-Hot Cuevas Scorches Privateers Friday, August 7th, 2026 Players get multihit games all the time. But a 5-hit game comes around only once in a blue moon. It happened at East End Park when Armando Cuevas of Otsego scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Portland Privateers. He walloped 5 hits in 6 at-bats in his career-day performance to help the Bulldogs get by the Privateers 18-15. In a talkative and jovial mood after the game, the catcher of the Bulldogs said, "Whoa, my swing was really, really there today. I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens... good things happen... like 5-for-6. I could get used to a lot of days like this one." Armando Cuevas singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Héctor Negrón in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and doubled in the 10th. This year Cuevas has collected a .347 batting average to date with 95 hits in 274 at-bats, 42 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 46 times. He has played in 69 games. |
