Red-Hot Bat: Castro Collects Cycle Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 You might say Clancy Castro wore out his welcome with the Rocky Point HS Eagles. The right fielder gave them fits in today's 11-5 Masconomet HS victory by hitting for the cycle. "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Castro ended the day with 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored. Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it." Clancy Castro grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Albert Cole in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. In his season totals, Castro has 9 home runs, .325 BA, .417 OBP, 51 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has played in 40 games. |
