He ripped Coweta HS pitching apart at Ballpark of Wildwood HS and sparked the Spanish Fork HS to a 11-4 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 6. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Roberts told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Gary Roberts singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Vic Curtis in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 8th. Roberts on the season is hitting .348 with 4 home runs. His stats include 27 RBIs and 40 runs scored. |
