Concepción's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Thursday, May 1st, 2025 He did it again! Esteban Concepción got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 20. He collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His John Jay HS Patriots were defeated 8-7 at Ghosts Ballpark by the Brookline HS Warriors. During the recent streak, the 17-year-old left fielder has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, Concepción preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today." "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." Esteban Concepción hit a three-run home run off Norm Sweetland in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 7th and walked in the 9th. Currently Concepción is batting .406 with 12 home runs, 44 RBIs and 33 runs scored. |
