Nantucket Ace Named APL Outstanding Hitter Award Saturday, October 18th, 2025 For fans of the Nantucket Orcas, there was certainly no doubting the value of Pedro Santiago this season. Now the 22-year-old pitcher has an award to show just how valuable he was, as he's been named the 2025 Appalachian League Outstanding Hitter Award winner. His remarkable campaign saw him put up a 20-6 record. In 50 starts he piled up 262.2 innings, had 318 strikeouts with 59 walks and a 2.88 ERA. Santiago held opposing hitters to a .207 batting average and compiled a 8.6 WAR. George Nelson of the Nantucket Orcas finished second in voting, while Claudio Rodríguez of the Scottsdale Scorpions finished third. |
