Barnes Gets 5 Hits
Sunday, May 25th, 2025
After the Lansing 17-1 victory over Mile High and his 5-hit day left fielder Sam Barnes told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special." The 30-year-old player gained that distinction today at $5 Footlong Field with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Mile High Broncos. The skipper of the Lugnuts spoke glowingly of Barnes, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Sam did that to perfection today." Sam Barnes singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Hokusai Nakashima in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Steve Newman in the 4th, walked in the 6th, singled
in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

So far this year Barnes is hitting .309 with 9 home runs.
