SNL's Premier Player: Ortíz of West Virginia Thursday, October 17th, 2024 The manager of the West Virginia Power said he thinks Fernando Ortíz is only going to get better as he gets older. He may only be 23, but it will be hard to top the right fielder's 2024 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Southern League Outstanding Hitter Award. His winning campaign featured a .320 batting average and a .414 on-base percentage this year. In 106 games he piled up 134 hits, 23 doubles, 6 triples, 28 home runs, 112 RBIs and 89 runs scored. Enrique Valdés of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats finished second in voting, while Manuel Fuentes of the Salem Silver Souls finished third. |
