Cortéz Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Amarillo Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 Rollers right fielder Enrique Cortéz went 0-for-4 today in Havana's 6-2 triumph over the Amarillo Archdukes, snapping his 20-game hitting streak. Cortéz spoke to BNN after the game and said, "I knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later. I just would have preferred later." When he made an out in his last chance at bat, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. The Archdukes manager shrugged off the streak. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," he said. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." This season Cortéz is batting .336 with 15 home runs. His totals include 54 RBIs and 66 runs scored. |
